§ 250-11. Stopping, standing or parking on roadways, sidewalks and crosswalks.

  • A. 
    Except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or when in compliance with law or the directions of a police officer or official control device, no person shall:
    (1) 
    Stop, stand or park a vehicle on the roadway side of any vehicle stopped, standing or parked at the edge or curb of a street.
    (2) 
    Stop, stand or park a vehicle in the main travel portion of a street.
    (3) 
    Stop, stand or park a vehicle on a sidewalk.
    (4) 
    Stop, stand or park a vehicle on a crosswalk.
    Editor's Note: Former Subsection B, pertaining to commercial vehicles, which immediately followed this subsection, was repealed 5-4-1998 by L.L. No. 8-1998.
    (5) 
    Except where angle parking is authorized, every vehicle stopped, standing, or parked wholly upon a two-way roadway shall be so stopped, standing, or parked with the right-hand wheels of such vehicle parallel to and within 12 inches of the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway.

    (6) 
    Except where angle parking is authorized, every vehicle stopped, standing, or parked wholly upon a one-way roadway shall be so stopped, standing, or parked parallel to the curb or edge of the roadway, in the direction of authorized traffic movement, with its right-hand wheels within 12 inches of the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway, or its left-hand wheels within 12 inches of the left-hand curb or edge of the roadway.

    B. 
    The provisions of Subsection A(1) above shall not apply to any commercial vehicle making deliveries of merchandise in the usual course of business within the general business district of the Village for a period not exceeding 20 minutes.

    C. 
    The provisions of Subsection A(1) and (2) above shall not apply to any vehicle while engaged in the loading or unloading of passengers.
