§ 247-4. Disposal of vehicles.

  • In the event that the ownership of such abandoned vehicle cannot be determined or the owner's address cannot be ascertained or in the event the owner shall fail or refuse to redeem such abandoned vehicle within 10 days after delivery to the owner or owner's agent or employee of notice, by registered or certified mail, that such vehicle is in the custody of the Superintendent of Highways, then, and in any of such events, unless the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles shall sooner take such vehicle into his custody pursuant to Section 424 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law, the Superintendent of Highways may, at the expiration of 10 days after taking such vehicle into custody, cause the same to be sold as herein provided.
